Cary Players will kick off its fifth season with the delightful musical “You're a Good Man Charlie Brown!”Directed by Nancy Rich and musical director Craig Johnson, talented adults play the beloved Peanuts characters of Charlie, Lucy, Schroeder, Linus, Sally and, of course, Snoopy. Will Charlie ever get that stupid kite to fly? Find out on Sept. 26-27 and Oct. 3-4 at 7:30 p.m., and Sept. 28 and Oct. 4-5 at 2 p.m. All shows will be at the Herb Young Community Center on the Cary Town Hall campus.Ring in the holidays in December with a 1940s radio drama version of the Frank Capra classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.” This touching tale of the idealistic George Bailey’s encounter with Clarence, his guardian angel, will warm your hearts. Audience members will be entertained by hearing this touching drama and by watching actors create live sound effects.Debra Grannan will direct the show with assistant director Phil Crone.Performances are scheduled for Dec. 12-13 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. All shows will be performed in the beautiful Cary Town Hall Council chambers.In February, audiences will be treated to Cary Players’ fourth production in the Love Bits and Bites series: “For Better or For Worse.”Under the direction of Lyman Collins and Craig Johnson, the show will feature a new selection of romantic and bittersweet scripts and songs.Complimentary coffee and dessert are part of the ticket price. Shows will be performed at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center on Feb. 14, 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 15 and 22 at 4 p.m. The Feb. 15 production will be offered as part of the Friends of the Page Walker Concert series.John Patrick’s clever comedy, “The Curious Savage,” rounds out the season this spring. Directed by Laurel Wetzork, this is a warm-hearted tale about Mrs. Ethel Savage, an eccentric, extremely wealthy widow. As recipient of her deceased husband’s estate, she wants to make the best use of the millions, despite her selfish stepchildren’s attempts to get their hands on it. Performance dates are April 24-25 and May 1-2 at 8 p.m. and April 26 at 3 p.m. All shows will be at the Holly Springs Cultural Center.Cary Players is a nonprofit community theater company that has entertained thousands of Cary residents with quality theatrical productions since 2003.
