Athens Drive High
Rising ninth-graders may register online for Freshmen Camp for either Aug. 6 or 13. Visit athensdrivehs.wcpss.net and click on “Freshman Camp Registration.”
North Carolina’s Junior Miss Helen Ching, class of 2008, was named First Runner-Up at America's Junior Miss on June 28. Helen is the daughter of Steve and Irene Ching of Cary. She was the president of the National Honor Society, a member of the Vision Martial Arts demonstration team, Cary Teen Council, secretary of the psychology club and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.

Aug. 13: 1st IMPressions Camp is designed to give freshmen an opportunity to become familiar with Cary High School and to ease the transition to high school. They will have a chance to tour the campus, meet their counselors, administrators and some of their teachers. Upper classmen will be sharing their high school experiences as well. There will be opportunities to sign up for clubs, organizations, athletic teams and so on. Also, they will be involved in team building and leadership activities that will help them to meet and make new friends.
Parent sessions will also be offered that will run simultaneously with their child’s session. Parents will get a chance to meet with administrators and student services. They will also tour the campus and get a chance to speak with upperclassmen, teachers, the PTA and so on.
This session is being offered for the first time and is designed to give parents an overview of what to expect now that their student is in high school and how to help them be successful during this pivotal year in their child’s educational journey.
Last names A-L will attend the morning session. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the session will run from 8:30- 11:30 a.m.
Last names M-Z will attend the afternoon session. Registration begins at noon and the session will run from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Cary Academy
John Zachary Miller is spending 17 days as a landmark volunteer at the Tennis Hall of Fame preparing the complex of stately buildings and 13 restored grass courts for Newport Tennis Week 2008. Zach is the son of John and Claire Miller and plays varsity tennis for Cary Academy. Landmark Volunteers is a summer service organization offering students the opportunity to perform community service at historical, cultural, environmental or social service institutions located throughout the country.
