Bryelle Smith, a rising senior point guard at Cary Academy, has committed to play women’s basketball for Clemson University.

Scoring 14 points and averaging five assists per game, Smith led the Chargers to the NCISAA 3-A Championship game this past year.

Swimming

New Southwest Wake meet set for Sunday

Sunset Ridge and the Marlins Of Raleigh will host the inaugural Southwest Wake Invitational Meet on Sunday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Ridge.

This meet is for summer swimmers and designed to complement Saturday’s Cary City Invitational at Scottish Hills. The meet is expected to attract nearly 400 swimmers.

Camps

Holly Springs to hold football mini-camp

Holly Springs High will conduct a football mini-camp Tuesday-Wednesday, July 25-26, from 5:30-8:15 p.m.

There will be a parent meeting on Thursday, July 27, from 6-7:30 p.m. Football practice will begin officially on July 31 from 8-10:30 a.m.

All players must have a current physical on hand to be able to practice.

-- Cary High will hold its high school football camp July 24-27 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. for all rising ninth- and 10th- grade players, and from 4:30-7:30 p.m. for all rising 11th- and 12th-grade players.

-- Apex High will hold its annual Volleyball Camp, Aug. 7-9 from 2-5 p.m. in the school’s main gym.

The camp is for girls who will be entering 6th-9th grades this fall. Space is limited to the first 40 participants.

Morrisville holds registration for fall

Morrisville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is currently holding registration for fall sports.

Age cutoff for all leagues is Oct. 31, 2006. Registration ends July 16.

The following sports will be offered: boys baseball, ages 7-12; girls softball., ages 6-12; soccer, ages 4-12.
