SANFORD — Denny Feracho rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns, and Cary’s defense had five interceptions to lead the Imps to a 35-7 win over Lee County Friday.
Cary’s Michael Portanova had two interceptions, and Brandon Lehman had one.
Cary (3-2, 1-0) led 21-0 midway through the second quarter after Feracho’s 4-yard TD run, Cameron Castor’s 47-yard punt return for a touchdown and Daniel Steed’s 1-yard TD run.
Feracho scored again in the third quarter, this time on a 5-yard run. Drew Duckett (54 rushing yards) scored on a 7-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Cary plays host to Athens Drive Friday at Cooper Field.
Fuquay-Varina 28, Panther Creek 0FUQUAY-VARINA — Panther Creek mustered just 175 yards of total offense and succumbed at Fuquay-Varina 28-0 Friday.
It marked the Bengals’ third shutout of the season, and they’re allowing just 4.8 points per game.
Fuquay (5-0, 1-0) rushed for 253 yards and passed for 135. The Bengals led 21-0 at halftime.
Panther Creek quarterback Gray Mazzone rushed for 66 yards and passed for 56.
Panther Creek (1-4, 0-1) next plays at Green Hope Friday at 7:30 p.m.
West Johnston 57, Holly Springs 0BENSON — Holly Springs was held to 44 total yards and suffered a 57-0 defeat Friday at West Johnson.
The Wildcats (3-3, 1-1) passed for 374 yards and ran for 97. They built a 43-0 lead in the first half.
The Golden Hawks (0-6, 0-2) return to Holly Springs this Friday to face Clayton at 7:30 p.m.
